Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Tickets must be purchased in advance, and tours often sell out quickly. To maximize your chances of getting the day and time you prefer, please book well in advance. 

Are children allowed on the tour? What type of ticket do they need?
While children are welcome on the tour, please keep in mind that it is a 2 hour walking tour and some young children may not have the stamina or attention span to last the full 2 hours. The Sweets and Treats Tasting Tour is a great tour for families with children.  Children 2 and under who will not be participating in tastings can attend for free.

Are tours given in bad weather?
Tours are held rain or shine. Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately if inclement weather is predicted.

If the tour is sold out, can I get on a waiting list?
Once the tickets are sold out, there is no waiting list so be sure to book tickets well in advance.

Are you able to accommodate for dietary restrictions?
We are generally able to accommodate vegetarians and some allergies with advance notice. Please let us know about your specific situation when purchasing your tickets.

How much food is served on the tour?
Enough food is served that a full meal after should not be necessary and we visit a total of 5 establishments.

Are there beverages included?
 Most restaurants have water on the table.

How much walking does the tour involve?
The 2 hours cover less than 1 mile. While we will be walking to each restaurant, we sit at all stops, and we walk at a moderately casual pace.

Where does the tour begin and end?
The meeting location will be provided at the time of ticket purchase. The end of the tour is about .5 miles from the starting location, and your guide will be happy to assist you at the end of the tour should you need directions back to the starting location.

Is there parking near the meeting location?
Inexpensive parking is available near the meeting location. Detailed parking information will be provided when you purchase your ticket.

Is the tour wheelchair or stroller accessible?
Tours are not generally Wheelchair or stroller accessible due to historical buildings, but we may be able to accommodate your needs. Please contact us to let us know of your specific situation.

Are restrooms available during the tour?
Restrooms will be available at the beginning of the tour and at most of the tasting locations.

Are cameras allowed on the tour?
Cameras for still photos are allowed. Video cameras are not allowed during the tour.

I live in or around Portsmouth – is this tour for me?
Absolutely! While you may be familiar with some of the restaurants, this is an opportunity to try new items you may not have tried at the tasting locations, as well as to learn more about the establishments themselves. Also, being a local, you will have the opportunity to re-visit many of the restaurants on the tour in the future. This tour is also an excellent way to entertain out-of-town family and guests.

Does the tour guide accept gratuities?
Tips are not mandatory, but if you had a great experience, tips are graciously accepted.

Are tours offered only in English?
All tours are offered in English and French. If you are French speaking, notify us so we can have bilingual tour guide leading your Portsmouth Eats Tasting Tour. If you would like to arrange a tour with any other language interpreter, please contact us on the Contact Us page to set up a private tour.

What are the public tour minimums?
Please note that we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the tour if the minimum number is not met.  You will be notified if this happens and will be refunded or given the option of rescheduling, this is the only time you may do so.  If the minimum is not met, you may also choose a "Private" tour at the higher rate.  

Can I purchase a gift certificate?
Yes! To purchase gift certificates online just visit our home page and click the "Buy Gift Certificates" button.

Can I book a private group tour?
Yes, we would love to host your private group tour. This is great for bachelorette parties, corporate events, birthday celebrations, team building, and social groups. Please contact us  for further details.
